Cinnamon Flavour Comes Through
 
Bottom Layer:
Butter or hard margarine, softened           1/2 cup
Granulated Sugar                                            1/2 cup
Brown Sugar, Packed                                    1/4 cup
Large Egg                                                          1
 
All-purpose Flour                                             1 1/4 cups
Salt                                                                       1/2 teaspoon
Baking Soda                                                      1/2 teaspoon
Coarsely crushed corn flakes                        1 cup
 
Filling:
Butter or hard margarine softened               1/4 cup
Brown Sugar, Packed                                      1/2 cup
Corn Syrup                                                         2 tablespoons
Ground Cinnamon                                            1 teaspoon
                    
Chopped Dates                                                  1/2 cup
Chopped Walnuts                                              1/2 cup
 
Bottom Layer:
Mix butter, both sugars and egg in bowl.
 
Add flour, salt and baking soda. Stir well. Mix in cornflakes. Spread 1/2 in greased 8 x 8 inch pan
 
Filling:
Mix butter, sugar, syrup and cinnamon well in bowl.
 
Add dates and walnuts. Spread over layer in pan. Sprinkle with second 1/2 cp corn flake mixture. Bake in 350f (175 c) oven for about 30 minutes. Cuts into 25 squares.
